Updates for mom and dad

March is almost over and it's time for an update.

Dad had to go back in the hospital over the weekend as his body was having a hard time dealing with some of the new medications for his transplant but things appear to be settling down and we expect him to be home this week sometime. The transplant itself seems to be doing great.

Mom continues her recovery from the first round of chemo and is about to undergo more tests to see when and what her next steps will be for treatment. Michelle has been in town for almost two weeks not taking care of mom and dad while staying with us and will soon be returning home to Florida. She's been taking mom around the town and I'm sure mom is going to be really bored once Michelle is gone so please feel free to hang out with her for a coffee at some point. We just celebrated mom's 66th birthday this past weekend at Bill and Ro's home and Cousin Janet, Aunt Martha and Uncle Vernon joined us for the fun. The kids behaved not too badly and the eats were pretty awesome.

Dad's Transplant Doing Well

Howdy:

Dad's surgery this past Sunday to give him a new liver has been a success so far. He has had little pain overall except for a tough night last night but today he is doing much better. He believes that hospitals should only serve 100% juice and not juice cocktail but I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do about that!

Mom has been going down to the hospital to visit him the past three days and dad definitely enjoys her company when we get down there.

Dad will probably be at the hospital for the next week or so and then as long as he is not being too big a pain :-) he will be joining mom at our house for a while. March 19th sister Michelle will be joining us here as well for a stay of about 2 weeks. One big happy family!

Thanks for caring and checking in. Mom is bored quite a bit so feel free to call or set up a visit. I think I'm getting on her nerves!

Dad getting his liver!!!

Howdy, folks!

Today, Saturday, March 7th, dad is getting his transplant done as I type at the University of Maryland hospital. He will probably be in surgery until at least midnight.

We'll post when he gets out and let everyone know how things are going.

Thanks for your prayers!

Sorry for the delay

Howdy, folks!

Time flies when you're having fun and my mom and dad have been having lots of fun lately!

Mom is continuing her stay here with the Marshes of Ruxton and I think she is going to stay as long as I keep making her my special scrambled eggs and my wife keeps watching Hallmark channel romances with her! Mom is slowly regaining her strength and we will be going back on March 25 to meet with her doctors to start working on the next steps in her treatment for defeating her lymphoma. Mom is exerting her will more and more each day as she strives to become more independant so please be praying for her not to take any falls as we progress in this area. I guess living with a Marsh man for 40plus years can really help you develop in the strength-of-will category! If you're in the area and want to swing by for a visit please give us a call and come on by; we're not going anywhere for a while.

Dad has really been keeping me busy the past several weekends - which is why I haven't posted an update in a little while. The past two weekends we have been back in the hospital as dad has been called in as a possible backup for liver transplants. The first weekend he was third on the list and only one good liver came in and this past weekend we were second on the list and only one liver made it in. Dad was needing a visit anyway as he received 4 units of blood to help refill the blood tank that is pretty constantly leaking at this point with his liver disease. The doctors discovered a number of ulcers that werer causing a good bit of the bleeding and if all goes well dad will be coming back home today at some point once they're sure they have this under control. The wait for a liver goes on in the meantime and we will keep the posts coming.

Call us if you have any questions and we'll get back to you if we can't pick up.

Thanks,

Pat
