Howdy, folks!
Sorry it's been a bit since the last update; once mom and dad were back home we figured life would settle down.
The update on mom is that she's had her first thorough check up since being released from treatment for her lymphoma and everything checked out great. No signs of the cancer at this point. She is still weak, especially trying to care for dad, but is able to drive and pretty much handle the day to day stuff pretty well.
The update on dad is that he has been back and forth to the hospital since his transplant in March. It just seems like after being home for a week or two that he ends up with some sort of complication - such as pneumonia - that puts him back in. Right now he has been back in for about 3 weeks but it looks like he'll be back home in the next day or so. We'll see! The docs don't seem to be able to figure this cycle out so please be praying for this. Caring for dad is really a difficult task for mom but it's what mom and dad insist on so we are all pitching in where we can.
Rick is handling the financial picture for mom and dad; Bill is handling the day to day issues with dad's business; Pat is doing fun things like installing toilets and shower heads; and Michelle is trying to keep mom and dad healthy the best she can. Michelle will be back in Baltimore the week of July 13th in case anyone wants to check in with her.
Well, that's it for now.
God bless,

Mom and Dad Back Home - Their Home!
It's been a month of back and forth for dad - as he was in the hospital and back out a few times - and mom spent a nice week and a half down in sunny Florida with Michelle but now the dynamic duo is finally settling back in on Benninghaus Road.
Dad still has a solid few months of recovery to go from the transplant but overall things are heading in the right direction.
Mom has been cleared from further treatment for what has been offically dubbed "primary central nervous system lymphoma" as she has had a great response to the initial chemo treatments and the cancer is now in remission. We still have a good bit of strength and memory to build back up but the doctors are hopeful that mom has a good stretch of time before the possibility of recurrence could become an issue - even as far out as 5 or more years!
So anyway, if you need to get a hold of these two guys just give them a call at the old numbers and you should get through.
Have a great summer and we'll keep you posted on any new news.

Updates for mom and dad
March is almost over and it's time for an update.
Dad had to go back in the hospital over the weekend as his body was having a hard time dealing with some of the new medications for his transplant but things appear to be settling down and we expect him to be home this week sometime. The transplant itself seems to be doing great.
Mom continues her recovery from the first round of chemo and is about to undergo more tests to see when and what her next steps will be for treatment. Michelle has been in town for almost two weeks not taking care of mom and dad while staying with us and will soon be returning home to Florida. She's been taking mom around the town and I'm sure mom is going to be really bored once Michelle is gone so please feel free to hang out with her for a coffee at some point. We just celebrated mom's 66th birthday this past weekend at Bill and Ro's home and Cousin Janet, Aunt Martha and Uncle Vernon joined us for the fun. The kids behaved not too badly and the eats were pretty awesome.

Dad's Transplant Doing Well
Howdy:
Dad's surgery this past Sunday to give him a new liver has been a success so far. He has had little pain overall except for a tough night last night but today he is doing much better. He believes that hospitals should only serve 100% juice and not juice cocktail but I'm not sure what I'm going to be able to do about that!
Mom has been going down to the hospital to visit him the past three days and dad definitely enjoys her company when we get down there.
Dad will probably be at the hospital for the next week or so and then as long as he is not being too big a pain :-) he will be joining mom at our house for a while. March 19th sister Michelle will be joining us here as well for a stay of about 2 weeks. One big happy family!
Thanks for caring and checking in. Mom is bored quite a bit so feel free to call or set up a visit. I think I'm getting on her nerves!

Dad getting his liver!!!
Howdy, folks!
Today, Saturday, March 7th, dad is getting his transplant done as I type at the University of Maryland hospital. He will probably be in surgery until at least midnight.
We'll post when he gets out and let everyone know how things are going.
Thanks for your prayers!

Sorry for the delay
Howdy, folks!
Time flies when you're having fun and my mom and dad have been having lots of fun lately!
Mom is continuing her stay here with the Marshes of Ruxton and I think she is going to stay as long as I keep making her my special scrambled eggs and my wife keeps watching Hallmark channel romances with her! Mom is slowly regaining her strength and we will be going back on March 25 to meet with her doctors to start working on the next steps in her treatment for defeating her lymphoma. Mom is exerting her will more and more each day as she strives to become more independant so please be praying for her not to take any falls as we progress in this area. I guess living with a Marsh man for 40plus years can really help you develop in the strength-of-will category! If you're in the area and want to swing by for a visit please give us a call and come on by; we're not going anywhere for a while.
Dad has really been keeping me busy the past several weekends - which is why I haven't posted an update in a little while. The past two weekends we have been back in the hospital as dad has been called in as a possible backup for liver transplants. The first weekend he was third on the list and only one good liver came in and this past weekend we were second on the list and only one liver made it in. Dad was needing a visit anyway as he received 4 units of blood to help refill the blood tank that is pretty constantly leaking at this point with his liver disease. The doctors discovered a number of ulcers that werer causing a good bit of the bleeding and if all goes well dad will be coming back home today at some point once they're sure they have this under control. The wait for a liver goes on in the meantime and we will keep the posts coming.
Call us if you have any questions and we'll get back to you if we can't pick up.
Thanks,
Pat

Mom home again and Dad going into the Hospital
Hello again, gang!
Mom is back home now recovering from her last bout of chemo and we are focusing on building up her nutrition and strength base in hopes of preparing for further treatment.
Michelle and the boys are in town to help hang out with and care for mom and dad and we are blessed to have them up here with us!
Dad's liver issues continue to worsen and we are having him admitted today as his health has deteriorated badly enough that he needs medical care as we wait on a possible transplant. We will keep updates coming on both mom and dad and please send pictures, notes, etc to the blog so that I can share them with mom and dad. We'll be posting some more content as time allows but this is a great way to stay in touch!

Back for Round 4
Hey, guys!
Mom is back at University of Maryland hospital for round 4 of her current chemo regimen. This will most likely be the last of this particular phase of treatment.
Mom will then come back home and start working on some serious nutrition and physical therapy to build her strength back up so we can then determine the next steps in her treatment plan.
Her room number at Maryland is 9 West 7oB and her phone number there is 410-328-4692.
We'll keep you posted!
Thanks!

Weekend Update
Hi, folks:
Mom has been back home for a few days after a bit of a setback with a run-in with an infection and fever that sent her back to the hospital for a few days. She seems to be doing well and recovering from this episode.
Mom just wanted to thank her posters, including Miss Betty Rose and her other blogger pals.
We go back in on February 5th to start our next round of chemo. Maybe the last of this particular type of treatment.
Again for anyone who doesn't know where we are located our address and phone number is:
8221 Ruxton Crossing Ct
Towson, MD 21204
410-377-6424
Give us a call if you want to stop by and say hello when mom is home between treatments.
Thanks,
The Marshes

January 26th, Back Home at the Marshes
Howdy, folks!
Mom thanks you for all the kind thoughts and prayers. She successfully completed her last round of chemo at Univ. of MD. and is now back home with us for what should be about a week and a half before we go back in for the next round.
We continue to pray for her full recovery although we are a long way from knowing whether or not that is what God has in store for mom but we will be getting back to some physical and occupational therapy here at home while mom is here and regaining her strength is a huge goal for us.
Please feel free to call here at our home, 410-377-6424, and if you want to visit mom someone is going to be here at all times so just give us a call and we'd love to have you come by to hang out and watch some soaps or just share a laugh or two with mom.
Please also keep our dad in your prayers as he continues to suffer from the ill effects of his liver disease and his condition also appears to be getting worse at this point in time.
Once again, thanks so much for being a friend to mom and she really appreciates your checking in on her.
Lots of love from the Marsh family!

Home Care and Back To Univ of Maryland
Howdy, folks!
Mom has really appreciated your posts and we just wanted to let you know the latest.
We have had two home visits from mom's home nursing care providers and that is going well. Mom will also be starting with home physical and occupational therapy shortly.
Tomorrow, Wednesday the 21st, we should be readmitting mom to commence her next round of treatment. We'll keep you posted on how that goes and when she is returning to our home.
Thanks again and feel free to send notes along. Mom is getting a chance to hear any that are sent.

Mom Marsh home for a while
Howdy, folks!
On Wednesday, January 14th, mom was able to come home to stay with the Marshes of Ruxton. That would be Pat, Anita and Logan Marsh. Oh, yeah, there's our very cool cat, Dexter.
Mom is super happy to be out of the hospital and does not have to go back in until Wednesday, January 21st for the next stage of her chemo treatments.
The phone number here is 410-377-6424 and we will be keeping a daily eye on the new Margaret Marsh blog. We will also be trying to keep some sort of calendar available here to keep everyone up to speed with the changes in location that mom will go through as her treatment progresses.
We are still waiting for mom's home nursing and physical/occupational therapies to get started here but in the meantime mom is getting a great workout on the steps.
